Main Beer List
Draught Beer from around Britain
The 15th Reading Beer Festival will open with a wide range of around 450 beers of varying strengths and styles from all over England, Wales and Scotland. New this year, 100 fresh casks of beer will go on sale from opening time on Saturday. These will be different beers from those on sale from Thursday and are shown here in red type. These beers will NOT be available before Saturday morning.
The beer order has been put together with the intention of providing a wide range of styles and strengths, new beers and well known ones, particularly those which may not be seen in the Reading area on a regular basis. Several of the beers here have won awards at other CAMRA festivals or SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) competitions.
Beers are arranged on the stillage alphabetically by brewery. Some beers are served on handpump which should be located on the bar near other beers from the same brewery.
This is the list of beers ordered but it should be noted that other beers may be added and some may have changed since the programme went to print. Milds are highlighted in yellow to promote this style of beer in May and breweries that have started since the last Festival are highlighted in green.
The "brew length" of a brewery indicates the amount of beer that can be brewed at any one time. It?s often measured in Brewer's Barrels (1 Brewer's Barrel = 36 gallons = 288 pints). A standard cask like the one you can see behind the bars holds 9 gallons (72 pints). Hence if a brewery is described as "6 barrels" or "6 BBL" in these notes, it means it has a 6 barrel brew length, and can brew enough beer to fill 24 standard casks.
