National Cider and Perry Awards 2009
Reading is proud to host CAMRA's National Cider and Perry Awards in recognition of the huge range of cider and perry available and the support that the festival has given over the years to these two traditional English drinks. The awards were judged in a blind tasting on Saturday 2 May 2009 and the results were as follows.
Cider
- Gold: Gwatkin - Yarlington Mill (Abbey Dore, Herefordshire)
- Silver (joint): Orchards - Wye Cider (Brockweir, Gloucestershire)
- Silver (joint): Rosie?s - Triple D Cider (Llandegla, Denbighshire)
Perry
- Gold: Broadoak - Perry (Clutton, Somerset)
- Silver: Seidr Dai - Painted Lady Perry (Cardiff, Glamorgan)
- Bronze: Gwatkin - Blakeney Red (Abbey Dore, Herefordshire)
Ale Trail Winners
A prize draw was held on Saturday 2 May 2009 for all those who had completed 24 pubs in the Reading & Mid Berkshire Ale Trail. Prizes were kindly donated by West Berkshire Brewery, Loddon Brewery and Westholme Store.

- Second: Stephen Haben, Reading - wins a polypin of beer.
- Third: Tom Cadman, Reading - wins 12 bottle conditioned beers.
- Fourth: Michel Duncan, Earley - wins 6 bottle conditioned beers.
